What comes out of a Florida paycheck
Three deductions apply to Florida wages: federal income tax withholding, Social Security and Medicare. Article VII, Section 5(a) of the Florida Constitution prohibits a state tax on the income of residents, so there is no state withholding line, no state disability premium and no city or county wage tax.
Florida's reemployment (unemployment) tax is paid by employers, not withheld from wages, so it appears only in the employer-cost panel below the calculator.
Federal withholding follows Publication 15-T. For 2026 the standard deduction built into the tables is $16,100 for a single filer and $32,200 for a married couple filing jointly.
Florida compared with other states
At the same salary, Florida and Texas take-home pay is identical: neither state withholds anything. Against California, New York or Illinois the gap is the full state line, which the linked calculators break out item by item.
