Which states have a verified paycheck calculator?
As of 2026-10-30, 8 state calculators are live, one is built and waiting to be published, and 41 states have not started. This page is the coverage ledger, generated from the same build that produces the calculators rather than typed by hand.
Live and verified (8 states)
Each row links to a page that computes federal withholding, FICA and the state's own lines. The tax year is 2026, and every rate on those pages carries its source document and verification date.

The exact data fields behind this table
These are the paths the engine reads. A renamed field breaks the build instead of printing a number from the wrong place.

In progress (1)
These states are in the build but not on the live site. Their figures are verified; publication, not calculation, is what is missing. No launch date is announced, and this page does not invent one.
| State | What is already verified | Data checked | Page status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Georgia (GA) | 4.99% flat rate, 2026 Table E standard deduction and dependent allowance, and the per-period calculation. | 2026-10-30 | Built, not published no date announced |
Not started (41)
No data file and no verified withholding method exist for these states, so there is no page to link and no launch date to publish. Being able to add a state is not the same as having added it: each one still needs its own withholding formula, rate structure and local-tax boundary checked against an official document.
States: Alabama (AL), Alaska (AK), Arizona (AZ), Arkansas (AR), Colorado (CO), Connecticut (CT), Delaware (DE), Hawaii (HI), Idaho (ID), Indiana (IN), Iowa (IA), Kansas (KS), Kentucky (KY), Louisiana (LA), Maine (ME), Maryland (MD), Massachusetts (MA), Minnesota (MN), Mississippi (MS), Missouri (MO), Montana (MT), Nebraska (NE), Nevada (NV), New Hampshire (NH), New Jersey (NJ), New Mexico (NM), North Carolina (NC), North Dakota (ND), Ohio (OH), Oklahoma (OK), Oregon (OR), Rhode Island (RI), South Carolina (SC), South Dakota (SD), Tennessee (TN), Utah (UT), Vermont (VT), Virginia (VA), West Virginia (WV), Wisconsin (WI), Wyoming (WY).
What “verified” means here
A state is not counted because a rate is known. It is counted when the calculator can print every line that state requires, with a source and a date. Three examples show why that is a higher bar than a rate table:
- Every field has a publish status. A value marked
needs_confirmationorpending_releasestops the engine; it cannot be filled in from last year's number. - The withholding method is implemented, not approximated. Georgia needed the 2026 Table E per-period standard deduction and dependent allowance before its state line could be computed. A flat 4.99% x gross would have been a different, wrong number.
- Local taxes are named, not silently dropped. Michigan models Detroit as an optional city line and says that other cities with an income tax are outside the model. Pennsylvania takes your local earned income tax rate because there is no statewide rate to print.
Hourly pay on every live calculator
Every live state page accepts an hourly rate and hours per week as well as an annual salary. The conversion happens before any tax is applied: annual gross = hourly rate x hours per week x 52; gross per check = annual gross / pay periods. The engine works from gross pay per period, so there is no separate hourly tax rule and no separate hourly page.
An hourly user and a salary user with the same annual gross get the same result, which is why coverage is measured in calculators rather than input modes.
Compare the same salary across states
The state comparison runs one $75,000 salary through all 8 live calculators with the same filing status and deductions, then shows the net annual and per-check difference line by line.
Frequently asked questions
- How many state paycheck calculators are live?
- 8 state calculators are live for the 2026 tax year: Texas, Washington, Michigan, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, California, New York. one is built and awaiting publication, and 41 states have not started.
- What does verified mean on this site?
- Every tax field used by the calculator has a status of verified or derived, a source document and a verification date. The build refuses a value with any other status, and a state is not listed as live until its own withholding method computes every line it prints.
- Which live states have no state income tax?
- Of the 8 live states, Texas, Florida and Washington have no state income tax on wages. Washington still withholds Paid Family & Medical Leave and WA Cares premiums.
- Can I calculate hourly pay?
- Yes. Every live state calculator accepts an hourly rate and hours per week as well as an annual salary. The page converts hourly pay to annual gross before any tax is applied: hourly rate x hours per week x 52, divided by pay periods for the per-check figure.
- When will my state be added?
- No launch date is announced for the states that have not started, and this page does not invent one. A state moves into the build only when its own withholding method and every line the page prints have a verified source and a date.
